following doom9 guide for dvd9 to dvd5 using cce, my computer freezes when i start the encode process, i can prepare fine, but once i click encode, cce opens in another window and looks like its going fine, then suddenly my computer freezes, im using cce 2.5 and ive tried 2.66 also and computer doesnt freeze but 2.66 just stops responding, better than computer freezing i guess lol, anyone else havin this problem?

It wouldn't be just a simple case of CPU overheating, would it?

I can tell you that CCE puts your memory and CPU to the test. I've overclocked one or both before and everything seemed alright during normal sessions -- until you process a video... then it hangs. I actually found and returned some bad 3200 memory that only failed when using CCE and after a couple of hours of processing, and the replaced memory fixed it.

cpu runs at 58(absII temp) under max load, like 40 when idle, ive ran prime95 large, small, blend tests for 2 days each no errors, ran memtest86 for couple days also no problem so not sure heh, maybe its a software issue and i dont feel like formatting lol since i doubt id find the problem otherwise, i can use cce with just svcd encoding without it freezing, dvd rebuilder/cce combo just doesnt like me  will just have to stick with dvd shrink and instant copy for now hehe

If it happen on every title, maybe it is due to the installation of avisynth (check version 2.5.4) or eclcce (check version 1.81)...
Did you verify, using a mediaplayer, that the output of the prepare step plays fine ?
Maybe I am wrong but I think I remind that someone had the same issue caused by the installation of an older release of the avisynth package, that was bundled with a SVCD backup package...
Cheers,
SD

I have the same problem but only with some titles.Actualy with LOTR bonus dvds, movies are done correctly but extra dvds is not possible to encode due frrezing after preparation phase.Iam using DR 0.70 and CCE 2.66.
Thanks for ideas.

You can try other cures, but to be sure it is not an overheating problem, try runing RB at your stock CPU speed (2500): If it hangs up, it is not overheating, but if it runs fine, you have find the culprit

Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+
I would say that overclocking is the most likly problem. I've never been able to run cce and have it be stable on an overclocked CPU. As suggested you may want to return your CPU back to default and give it another try.

I know my Athlon XP 3200+ seems to work fine when I overclock it -- but CCE will cause it to freeze after a while. I think it's the way that CCE pegs your processor at 100% for long periods of time. I've decided it is the best memory/cpu tester around... although I doubt Cinemacraft intended it to be used for that purpose. :D

To play devils advocate, I am currently overclocking my AMD64 3000+ from 2.0 ghz to 2.10 ghz (very minor overclock) and it works beautifully with every cce version I have tried (2.50, 2.67, and 2.70).

Nobody is saying you can't overclock with CCE. What it is being said is that is you are OC and your computer freezes when encoding with CCE, you should try with the stock speed before posting about soft problem

Exactly. Overclocking is very common... and if it works fine, no problem. But most people who overclock never do any testing that is the equivalent of CCE encoding. If you freeze during CCE encoding on an overclocked machine it is almost guaranteed it is due to the overclocking (either processor or memory). I don't think I have ever heard of a freeze on a machine that wasn't overclocked, and that should tell you something.

wow this post still goign lol, but anyway wasnt my overclock works fine, it was just the dvd i was doing, it did not like it for some reason but i did many after that worked fine so all good

What version of DGDECODE.DLL were you using? There was an alpha or beta release a while ago that was known to cause this kind of problem... if it isn't doing it on a different DVD, that may be a possibility.

On my system, both under Windows XP 32-bits and 64-bits, DVD Rebuilder freezes my system sometime after the encoding proces. So, just when idling... therefore, it certainly isn't an overheating issue (btw, I'm running my Athlon 64 3200+ at default speeds).
When I reboot, I can go back to DVD Rebuild and let it rebuild. The resulting DVD works just fine, so the encode was completed succesfully.
The program just freezes my computer, it seems.
