Ok, I hate to say this...but after reading through all the stickys and browsing these forums, I still don't know exactly how to do this. I mean just browsing this forum, it seems i'm not the only who just still isn't getting it. Nearly every thread is asking for help with this.
I exported a dv file from premiere that I capped from my dv camcorder.
1. NTSC 720x480 pixels (.9*** aspect ratio) interlaced lowerfield first
I need to get this video deinterlaced and at the correct pixel aspect ratio to view on my monitor.
Ok, first thing is first. I opened this video in virtualdub as stated in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=32197) , and it said "could not locate decompresser, blah blah blah". So I then ended up downloading the panasonic dv codec as reviewed in this thread. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=33526)
I was then able to open the file, then I got stumped trying to get this at the correct pixel aspect ratio. Reading this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=44977) made it even worse...several people arguing on whats right and whats wrong. I have no idea who to believe. I rest my case. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to do to get this at 640x480 or whatever resolution its supposed to be at square pixels? After I find this out, I just load the smart deinterlace filter and leave the default options and start encoding....right?
