Hi.

I downloaded the newest NM4U and I'm also using Scenarist 3.

I choose to re-encode menus before DIF4U demuxes the rest of the movie. However, after NM4U loads and the menus are demuxed and encoded with CCE, then Scenarist opens and absolutely nothing happens. I let it there for 2 hours and came back to find out that there was absolutely nothing done. The NM4U says "Authoring with Scenarist - Automated if under control of DIF4U" and the task manager says that a process called "Automatic-Scenarist" utilizes 100% of the CPU, however after two hours absolutely nothing is done.

I have chosen Import - Compile - Close and Minimize on Import in NM4U.

Any help ?

Thanks a lot fellas.

there is a periodic problem with scenarist 3.0 and automate_scenarist..

generally you can just click on the scenarist window and it will proceed as normal...

if worse comes to worse, just kill automate_scenarist and manually import

Well, I tried clicking on Scenarist but nothing happened. Anyway though, I'll try to manually import next time I backup a movie and if I get into trouble, I'll post again here.

Thanks a lot.

Ok I'll try manually importing tonight, however I do realise that the IFO Updating part for the menu IFOs will have to be done manually as well.

1) Can someone please describe the process of IFO Updating for the menu files after manually importing and compiling with Scenarist ?

2) And last but not least, I can see that NM4U tells CCE to encode menus at whatever passes DIF4U indicates for the extras of the movie, although I have set the passes to 3 at the NM4U encoder tab. DIF4U seems to be overriding that option. So, how is it possible to encode the menus at 3 passes and keep extras encoded at whatever DIF4U says (in my case, 7 passes) ?

Thanks in advance.

if you want to try this new version of automate_scenarist i'd appreciate it too.. I added a few more screen checks so maybe it will resolve your problem. If it does, let us know so we can package it with our next release

as far as updating the ifos, there should be a batch file in the demux directory that will allow you to update.

Well, I unzipped the .exe file into the NM4U and Scenaid directory to replace the old automate_scenarist.exe files that were in those directories. After CCE finished encoding, I got the following error :

"Not Available restore directory()" or something like that.

when I clicked OK Scenarist opened up and prompted me to input the script file. I used the ScenaristScript30_1.SCP file created by NM4U and Scenarist started importing. When the importing process finished, it started compiling and when compiling finished, Scenarist closed and the IFOs were updated ! So I guess it was successful, apart from the error I mentioned, which of course doesn't seem to make any difference in the process... Or am I wrong ?

Well, hopefully I helped. All in all, I would say you were very successful with this new version. Congratulations. ;)

1) Now I guess the updated by NM4U IFO files should be treated as if they were directly copied from the original DVD, right ? (i.e. I'll have to update them again after Scenarist finishes compiling the movie, like the guide describes).

2) And also if someone could help me out with my second question in my previous post I would be very grateful indeed... :)

@iparout

At the moment that is not available. The only way to accomplish what you want is to run NuMenu4u first and have it call DIF4U. DIF4U won't start processing, it will just load up the disc and use the working dir from NuMenu4u. Simply change the passes required in DIF4U. Ensure that 'Do not copy menu files' is checked, so that the new menu files don't get overwritten.

Well, I found a better way of doing it. I set 3 passes for the extras in DIF4U so that the menus are done in 3 passes and then, when BatchCCEWS loads, I manually adjust the extras at 7 passes rather than 3. ;)
