Hi all.

I've been using the big3 method to backup the party. Everything went fine, however, in the backup DVD, when I right click on the PowerDVD screen and go to the subtitles selection, the drop-down menu that appears quotes every subtitle stream as being "Greek" (all 13 streams, i.e. 1 - Greek, 2 - Greek, 3 - Greek e.t.c.). I have only kept the Greek and English subtitles of the movie. The English substream is the first one ( 1 - Greek), whereas the Greek substream is the penultimate one (12 - Greek).

If I chose any of those streams through the drop-down menu of PowerDVD, the corresponding substream appears correctly (i.e. if I select 1 - Greek, the English substream will appear), however I cannot understand why PowerDVD dropdown menu fails to quote each stream with the correct language it is.

When looking at the IFO of the original DVD through IFO Edit, I can see that every substream is quoted correctly (English, Greek, Polish e.t.c.), however, when I open the IFO file that Scenarist created, I can see that all substream are quoted as "Not Specified". The same goes for the IFO file on the backup DVD, which is what I expected since it was created with IFO Update using the Scenarist IFO.

So my question is this : Why did Scenarist created an IFO that quotes every substream as non-specified, although the streams (Greek and English) are there ? It's not much of a problem, however, since I am a perfectionist, I want everything to look good...

Is there any easy way to make the IFO of the backed up DVD (and thus PowerDVD drop down menu) quote the subtitles with their correct language ? I have kept both the original IFO and the IFO created by Scenarist...

Thanks in advance.

you could just change the languages with ifoedit (on the first view u get when u open an ifo u should see your subtitle streams, double click and edit them (and make sure the language type is set to present). this will also need editing in VIDEO_TS.IFO).

i guess the 'copy audio & subpicture tables' option in IFOUpdate had something to do with this little problem (e.g. it was enabled and the languages for the subs were not selected correctly in Scenarist).

I tried that (editing with IFO Edit) but it still didn't work

What if I don't check "copy audio & subpicture tables" in IFO Update for this DVD, so that the original subpicture's tables remain ? Are there gonna be any problems in the final backup ?
