I have a pal avi that I want to encode to create an ntsc dvd. I opened it with tmpgenc and selected film for the video type. After doing this it wants to do an inverse telecine. Should I not do the inverse telecine. Also is it preferred to use vdub to change the frame rate from 25fps to 23.976 before using tmpgenc?

Hello - using virtualdub to reduce the frame rate to 23.976
(and time stretching the audio) works well *if* the PAL avi is
progressive.
If it's interlaced (50 unique fileds) its a bit more problematic.
Not sure whats best here. I guess you could drop the odd or even field and treat it as progressive - There's probably a concensus on this, but not sure what ot is.

Not sure why tmpgenc wanted to do ivtc ?
