Hello, ive searched the forum regarding what to do when Subtitles become desynched when using DVDmaestro and solution with pulldown for NTSC

But havent found any guide how to do it properly when using pal discs. Can anyone point me to right direction and how to do it?

Note: Is it true that pulldown is using only for NTSC?

Thanks!

Yes, pulldown only makes sense for NTSC in order to convert 23.967fps movie into standard 29.97fps NTSC. Since regular movies are shot at 24fps and PAL is 25fps, they usually just speed up the original movie to convert it to PAL. You will probably have to update timestamps in the subtitle file to speed them up accordingly.

how did you get the sub into maestro format?

if you used an app to pull it off the cd, get it to save it in 'subviewer 2' format, then open that in subrip, and you can export it to .stl for maestro afterwards.

Get subtitleworkshop here (http://urusoft.co.nr/)
You can open your srt file and movie, then just convert the fps to the
sync with you movie. Then save as Maestro subtitle file (stl).

Yes ive used workshop. And i must say that when i used srt-ssa-sonto the movie ive got subs out of synch then overlap wasnt detected. But when i used stl then it detected overlap from the movie and after fixing it it went through without a problem. Now i every time will use stl to determine if theres any overlap.

I believe that when stl determine if theres no overlap with stl than ppls can use also ssa-son conversion aswell.
However i havent tested that to give proper answer about that.

Thanks for the tip guys!

what i do with the subtitles is ...

watch the movie with the preview and write down what time the first words are spoken
do the same with the last words ...

then in subtitle workshop adjust the first and last line of the subtitle and save it as a spruce subtitle file then it should be almost accurate , then al u need to do is watch the movie including the subtitles for a bit lets say every 10 minutes from the timeline..

in subtitle workshop u can fine tune the timings and again save the file as spruce subtitle file until the timings are exact , this may take some time but the result is very good .

Install Matrox DVD Player
And then you will be able to play the movie in DVD Maestro

Or cinemaster 2000, well actually you only need 5 small files from it in the Maestro directory :)
