I'm working on some Beverly Hillbillies episode discs, and the source material is very very poor. There is a lot of noise, and just general low quality in the source. The bitrate is very high, however.

This is my first black and white film, are there any tricks that one can use to clean up the video source? Anything special required for black and white?

Thanks for the input.

in avisynth ( i use the automated GordianKnot prog for my encodes ) select the noise filter use the levels accordingly. about the color make the resolution as large as possible and enable the noise filter before resizing. besides these basic principles, theres really nothing you can do.

P.S. if the beverly hillbillies episodes are on dvd, they were probably cleaned up professionally in the process of making the dvd.
