codec tutorials

hey all. i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for tutorials and/or samples on how to make a codec. i've got the generic mpeg4 source code, ands the huffyuv source, plus i've read through some MS documentation. but it's a bit hard, i don't exactly know what to look for. "codec tutorials" doesn't give me a whole lot of search results.

well, as i'm somehow in the same case, i can say you won't find anything.

the only "tutorial" you can have is reading actual source code, like xvid, h264, warp, loco, dirac ... they all have some interesting things inside, but it's often damn hard to follow...you have to read and read it again before grasp some things... i fear there isn't any easy way ;)
