Strange Problem on 2nd pass

hi all,
when i encode video I do 2 pass like everyone does. after 1st pass is done and when it goes into 2nd pass for some reason the quantz graph only shows it uses 2 quantz which is 2 and 4 and 2 is for P and I frames and 4 for b frame exactly what it shows on 1st pass. This problem is only occure for the past few days and i've been trying all sorts of setting and configure the codec but the 2nd pass still giving me only uses quantz 2 and quantz 4. is there anyway of solving this problem? and before htis problem happened it uses all different number of quantz from whatt eh graph is telling me and some of my encode is goes like 30mb or so under size.
I use Koepi build of xvid 1.0.1.

You asked for a bitrate too high. The first pass is made at maximum quality ( meaning quant 2 for P frames, and, with your settings, quant 4 for B frames ). After the first pass, you can check with StatReader what the size of the first pass would have been if it had been encoded with a normal first pass.

Now, if you don't authorized quant 1, you can't get a filesize after the second pass that would be larger than the filesize of the first pass.

So, don't be desappointed by the codec giving you a 30 MB undersized file, because its quality will be maximal ( with the settings you chose, once again ). If you can spare that 30 MB, change some of your settings ( make a search on "undersizing" to see what are your possibilities ).

in my previous encodes i use qunatz restirction of 2 12 2 12 2 12 and it still gives me the correct file size i wanted

Yes, but the movie you're currently encoding is more compressible than the movies you did before. Once again, check your first pass size with Statreader, you'll see that it's lower than the size you're asking for your second pass, which means it can not be reached.

And do the search on "undersizing", I won't explain again something that has been explained over and over again on this forum.

Your options are as follows:

1) Use a high bitrate Custom Quant Matrix
2) Increase your resolution
3) decrease your b-frame settings or disable them alltogether
4) do nothing, and include director's comments with extra space heh
