Hi, I have searched the forum, but cannot find help for some reason.

I have a couple of avi files, but the audio seems to be fractionally in front of the video in both. I would like to turn them both into a DVD but I have no idea how to get the sound and video back into sync before I try converting them.
Will someone please post me some - simple - help (or direct me to a Guide) to help me resolve this problem? I have a few programs to help - most of them Freeware, but have been unable to find a way to put the sound and vision back in sync again. I am still very much a Newbie in this area and would appreciate any help in "easy-speak" if possible.
Regards, V

There are a few different ways to accomplish this depending on when you want to correct the delay. Myself, I like to take care of this right off the bat.

You can use virtualdub to correct the delay by loading the avi, select the audio menu, select interleaving and then putting different values in the audio skew block. Values are in milliseconds, use positive values if the audio plays too early, and put a negative sign in front of the value if the audio plays too late. Once you have the audio synced, select save wav file under the file menu. Convert this to ac3 and use it with your favorite authoring program.

If you know how much the audio if off you can correct the delay when you convert the audio to ac3 with besweet, then use with your favorite authoring program.

Some authoring programs allow you to add an audio delay when you are laying out a dvd.

u can also move the audio in the authoring's program timeline during authoring phase. Maestro and Scenarist allows u to do this.
