Hello,
I have a DVD of a concert and I want to remove only the audio so I can burn it to an audio CD to play in my car. The DVD has multi angels and a ton of sound tracks so evertime I make an AVI file with AutoGX, I hear the sound being repeated multiple times ie... dah dah dah, doo doo doo, ray ray ray, mi mi mi etc...
I tried using DVD shrink first to remove only 1 angel and 1 audio track but I get the same finished product. Obviously I am doing this very wrong. What method/software do you guys suggest? Also, would it be better to remove the AC3 2.0 tracks and expand them to wave or would I benefit by ripping the 5.1 track?
Lastly, is there any way to automattically break the sound track by song?

i would rip the DVD to the harddisk and then use DGIndex (formerly known as DVD2AVI) to demux (or decode) the wanted audio track to the harddisk. (Just select File -> Save Project)

Thanks for the input but it turned out exactly the same. It is like hearing the song over again 3 time 1 measure at a time.

Hi,
how do you start?
First, I would only rip the audio track of one angle of the main track - this should be possble with f.e. smartripper, did you tried it this way? :rolleyes:

Is there distinct breaks in the music between songs? If so, Magix "Audio Cleaning Lab" can automatically break it up into individual songs. You can get the older version "Audio Cleaning Lab 3" at Amazon for 10 bucks US. It's not much different than the 2004 version. I think they just came out with the 2005 version with an introductory price of $30. It usually lists for $40. Convert the AC3 2.0 track to a WAV file and import to the Cleaning Lab and just follow the help instructions. You should end up with individual songs. If you end up with repeated songs as you say, just delete the repeats. You can also manually cut what you don't want. There may be free ware program I am not aware of that can do this but you can't go wrong for 10 bucks. I also use it's noise cleaning functions to clean up audio from video captures.
Enjoy! :)

You can rip the DVD chapter by chapter. It's very likely that every chapter represents one song. So you already have them divided. And yes, you should rip only on angle. Having three angles ripped together could well be the reason that you have tripled the sound..

Hi, first post here though I've done some searching around for a bit. I absolutely love thise site, even if most of the information is way beyond my comprehension. I'm hoping to learn as much as possible from this site.
That aside, I also would like to rip the audio from a soundtrack preferably into MP3 format. My toddler loves a childrens DVD and I would love to be able to rip some of the songs that she likes. Although I have gone through the FAQ's, I'm entirely new at this and I just wanted to clarify the proper way(in my case, easiest)to do this. Just to let you know my knowledge level: this will be my very first project
I appreciate your advice and patience. My apologies for resurrecting an old thread. I found it via search.

BeSure (http://dspguru.doom9.net/ -> Stable) could be the right tool for this. never used it though. just read the description from the homepage.
let us know if it's worth a try.

There seems to be another (new?) tool for audio extraction from DVDs. haven't checked it myself. maybe this evening. look at this thread: DVD Audio Extractor ? (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81239)

ProjectX can be used for easy demuxing and editing/spliting/joining audios from many vobs.

@eb
thank you. I'm using ProjectX regularly. Sure, this can all be done manually. Just rip a DVD Chapter by chapter, demux the audio, reencode the ac3 tracks to MP3, OGG, WAV. There are alot of tools that can do these steps (Rippers, Demuxers, Audio-Encoders)
It's just that it's pretty cumbersome to do all this manually..!
@all
i checked the DVD Audio Extractor i mentioned. it really has a lot of potential. The GUI is well done and basically you can do nearly every you need. But it also has some serious flaws!!
1. Sometimes it can't access the audio tracks/chapters that the user has selected to rip from the DVD
2. Some audio tracks that are ripped from the DVD have errors (jumping, some seconds missing, etc.). This happens WITHOUT an error message. So you can't be sure that the audio has been extracted correct!!!

Malcolm
