Small 3.5 mm plug HQ cable ???

Ok, this problem bugs me quite long now !!!

I searched around, but haven't a answer...

So I decided to ask here !!!


My problem...

To connect my Soundcard to my Amp I use this 3.5mm plug -> chinch cables !!!

Atm, I use one of this crappy LQ cables...

But I wanna use some HQ cables like this now...

But they don't wanna fit @ my (or any other) Soundcard !!!

The problem is that the "jack-head" (not the jack itself) is to big... :(


Most Soundcards allow only "small-headed" jacks (like the LQ above) !!!

The distance between the holes is simply too small to use HQ plugs... :mad:

So, does someone know where to get a "small-headed" HQ cable ???

Check those cables you call "HQ" carefully (e.g. cut one :D) ... quite often they actually use stage cable which is meant to be mechanically highly resistant - the actual amount of copper isn't that much higher than in what you call "LQ" stuff, most of it is the vinyl coat. So it looks impressive, but that's about it.

- Metal plugs (24-K gold)

- Double shielded

- Extra thick coat

- 75 Ohm impedance

- 5 years warranty

The "extra thick coating" basically just reaffirms what I was trying to say - the cables will be able to take a lot of wear & tear from stepping on them, squashing them etc.

What's your motivation for being "HQ" cables? More copper/less resistance? Good looks? Double shielding and gold-plated connectors can be had on "thin" cables as well.

I personally haven't seen any "thick" cables with "slim" connectors - at some stage these monster cables have to enter the housing of the connector, hence necessitating a minimum diameter (which is apparently to big for your card's connector spacing).

If your card offers a digital I/O bracket with optical connectors, I'd use those & let your amp do the decoding ...
