It's an opportunity to become a part of a very exclusive club... more exclusive than you can imagine. :(

DVD-RB is becoming so good I'm really feeling bad about not donating. But the real reason is we dont use credit cards (just bank cards) in scandinavia and the only person I know that has one isnt exactly a friend.
Jdobbs, could you arrange the information for a direct bank transfer? Although that might be impossible or expensive cause of where you are.
When I buy from the net in the EU I use direct bank transfer which is fast and free for both parties, but as we well know the US isnt too advanced in bank transfers.. money is either sent in a letter (lol) which is illegal here, or a check (hehee) or by using a ripoff credit card with a balance of -15 000 USD. I heard a bank transfer can take upto 3 weeks to go to the US (darn the speed of light is slow).
I think I'd like to donate the exact price of DVDRemake Pro.. so as to indicate the money is far more deserved elsewhere.

This really has nothing to do with video editing or anything but I really have to disagree with your assessment of US banks. I can transfer funds automatically online via TCF Webpage. So not all banks are in the stone ages... And i really dont know anyone stupid enough to send cash through the mail. sorry but i dont know where you get your info but its fairly incorrect.

I get it from the impression that the UK is much like the US in that digital bank transfers are almost unheard of and money is exchanged using checks or credit cards, and from my brother who does alot of international trade into the US. I have yet to see any online shop located in the USA that accepts bank transfers, but maybe I've just missed them.
I used to do some freelancing for a UK company and they sent me my monthly payment as a check through mail.. and it wasnt a small sum either. There was no possibility to send a digital bank transfer because it cost a LOT to arrange it. Then there are those online banner companies that send all their checks through the mail aswell. Not to mention these small companies like Network Solutions (.com .net etc) who only accept credit cards or checks.
I mean, dont you guys in the US get your WEEKLY *paycheck* into the mailbox? I think in the whole of europe your MONTHLY calary is paid into your bank account with tax and pension fees deducted. ATM machines are around every corner (theyre inbedded into the buildings, not a soda-machine) and most purchases are done with cash or the "ATM card" if youre too lazy to walk a few meters to the machine.
Alot of those impressions come from hollywood movies, and they cant all be false?

Unfortunately the reality is nothing like hollywood movies... I get my paycheck direct deposit (as can anyone pretty much) so it goes right into my bank account and I get cash with my atm check card or i pay using my check card. I hardly ever see cash unless the place that im going doesnt accept check cards. So you see we arent exactly in a backwards ass country here.. i mean this IS the largest economy in the world. We arent wearing loincloths and using stone tools, and using flint and tinder to light fires.. we are out of the stone age.

Good to hear things are catching up. Perhaps I just have this incorrect mental connection between the UK and the US, where I regard the UK as one of the most backward societies in the EU (not a member of the Euro club either).
But you have to remember that when you're the largest, you're also the slowest to change. This holds true in lots of things from passing new legistlation, reforming education and adopting the benefits of new technology for government institutions.
But I love the USA, for good or bad. Happy late independence day!

You have a point there.. we do take forever to adopt some of the newer technologies.. thanks for the happy independance day.. its always fun to celebrate... hehe

I don't think I can remember the last time I knew anyone who actually got a paycheck. It's all electronic funds transfer now (well except maybe teenagers who work fast food and don't have a bank account yet). As for using ATM/Check cards... I also can't remember the last time a wrote a check. I go up to the self-server registers, scan my groceries, pay for it electronically, and head home so I can go online to make sure my account is straight. I'd eat it digitally if I could figure how to transfer the calories..

I've found that the best way to get politics off your mind is to offload it onto an automated system. Just create a piece of complaint software. It selects randomly from a complaint database that holds a lot of issues that always have and always will remain true (high taxes, special interest influence, environmental issues, lost liberties, etc.) It then pulls random email addresses of members of congress and sends a daily rant. It keeps your blood pressure down.
Ok. I don't really have the software -- but it ain't a bad idea.

That might be more popular than ReBuilder! Could be more profitable too... :D
As an aside, if you had a real address somewhere, you might get cash cards or gifts from people who refuse to deal with PayPal (http://www.paypalsucks.org/) for one reason or another. Like me... No big windfall or anything, but it might be cool stuff from all over the world.
