I think he or she means a .xvid extension, like a .divx extension. I've never seen one(just read about it), but I would say, rename it to .avi. The fastest answer is of course, double click on the thing and see does it play? ;)

Nah, I would think whatever.dvd-rip.xvid.avi or something like that with the avi extension hidden by windows.
