reduced resolution option broken?

i have tried to use the reduced resolution option several times with xvid 1.0 and it never works, it will always play a second or so of video then crash. ive tried playing my test encodes in graphedit, mpc vdub and wmp9. i have also tried making the test clips resolutions multiples of 32 and 64. is there anyway to get this option to work?:confused:

This is exactly why reduced resolution should not be in the encoder or at least in the present state it is now. 1) It doesn't work and 2) People who don't know what it is are going to use it to make non-standard files. Don't use reduced resolution, it will not help your encodes at all. It will simply lead to incompatibility and problems. IF it is used with ARTS profile it is compliant but there really isn't much use for this anyway since you cannot use any ASP features. Reduced resolution may be useful for streaming but probably not in it's current state in XviD.
EDIT: I would request that all binaries released should have it disabled from the Unrestricted Profile, I think this should be a fair compromise.

thank you for your reply, i was merely curious to see what it would do to my encodes. i got it to work (well kindof) in unrestricted profile. and i know what it does, however i didn't know it was incompatible with some of the other features... anyway i definately wont be encoding anything important with this feature:D

Use the search. Its meant for streaming - not DVD-backup encodes.
