Newbie to audio encoding...

Would like to find out is it possible to convert a Wav(ripped from a vcd) to a 5.1 AC3...

Why you want to encode to AC-3. If you want to burn this in a Video on DVD you should use MP2 because there are no differences because you haven't in you wave such surround signals. But if you want use the programm beSweet and a gui. Search with google for the official homepage.

why you wanan convert from 2 channel to 6 channel?

if you really wanna do that use hypercube-transcoder for dolby prologic II upmixing

Because NTSC DVDs can't (by the book) use MP2 audio, and many NTSC DVD players choke on it.

If that is the only reason, why not ac3 2.0?
That can be done with BeSweet or SoftEncode, for instance

You can use GraphEdit and in the frame of it insert AC3Filter by Valex and FileWriter.
Having incredible and infinity possibilities of this AC3Filter in your hands.

I do not know why, when i use Besweet to convert my wav to ac3, when i play that ac3 file there seem to be no sound at all...So i use Besliced to correct the file but still it i can hear any sound when i play the ac3 file....

Any solution to my problem...

Instal AC3Filter, than at least you can to see if you can not to hear ac3 sound.
