yarrr. these people make me so mad. i'm still trying like hell to get a non CDS200 album from EMI. i wonder if they'll respond to my (actually very civil) email? hehehe.

but a placating thought is that the more sophisticated the FCC, and our four letter organisations get, the more sophisticated the circumvention gets. ordinary people suddenly must get in with the pirates and hackers simply to excercise their rights. when that happens, the laws become ineffective.

i'm convinced that if enough people simply ignore these laws, and go ahead and excercise their fair use rights (and not-so-fair use rights if push comes to shove), the more stupid the situation will become. it'll probably go full circle eventually.

my country was founded by people imprisoned for trivial offences (stealing a loaf of bread was a popular reason for "transportation"), and i'm not afraid to see it happen again :)
