Half-D1 and subtitles

Hi folks,
dear jdobbs,

I have a little problem with subtitles if Half-D1 is choosen (for extras)... no script modification, just plain DVD RB settings. The effect is, that subtitles are screwed - they appear but you can't read them anymore. This happens with lates version and unfortunately I can't test any pre.versions because I allways override DVD RB.exe with latest release.

Maybe it is the effect of Half-D1 (in this respect I have not very good knowledge) but I think that this shouldn't happen - movie.quality of Half-D1 is just lovely :).

can someone confirm this behavior, 'cause if not then it's my mistake and I'll excuse myself :)

What kind of player are you using? Is it a standalone?

That's odd. PowerDVD displays half-D1 subs fine on my system, but WinDVD totally scrambles them.

this is so true...

before I burn my baby I'm playing the DVD-RB result in a softwareplayer (with MPC but intervideos a/v decoder). So, the subs were scrambled and I thought, hugh, that doesn't look very well. I didn't come up with the idea to burn it nevertheless and see what happens playing it on my SAP (btw, jdobbs you've ask for it... http://www.dk-digital.com/_engl/DVD_311.htm) - but now I see that it's the fault of a 3rd party :D

And on my system its the other way around :D .. I prefer WinDVD4 anyway as its lightning fast compared to the mammoth powerdvd. But for navigation errors (caused by dvdstripper or dvdremake) I try to test with both.

I'm using WinDVD5 and and PowerDVD5. Maybe that could account for the difference.
