JPEG2 is way better than JPEG, but it's a pain on the CPU :)

It's impossible to compare this to the JPEG test... all of the JPEG2000 images were significantly larger than classic JPEG. The quality step is apparently much smaller in JPEG2. It would be better if you could try to get some encodes that are near in size to the respective JPEG images, that way we could truly compare.

Yes, same opinion here !!!

At least if you wanna stay below Q 100% filesize...

Coz a Q 100% JPEG2 looks still better than a Q 100% JPEG !!!

The difference is very small, but filesize also slightly bigger... :rolleyes:


Maybe the codec I've used (InfranView) is simply bad tuned... :confused:

Someone knows if there are different JPEG2 codecs out there ???

Corel photo paint 12 has the best jp2k compression i found for pictures but it's the worst for images with big flat areas...

I don't wanna upgrade to psp8 or 9 because it has a lot of features I don't need and it takes way too long to load
