I made some home movies at school using IDVD and now I am having major trouble copying them and getting them to work on standalone players. I am pretty new to mac but am pretty good with DVD stuff, I have had a DVD burner in my PC at home for about year and have made over 100 DVD Video backups. I have tried 3 things now to try to back this DVD up and they have all failed. 1) tried to copy the files in the Video_TS folder using drag and drop and created a new DVD with the correct folders and put orig Video_ts contents on the new DVD. The only software I used for this was the Max os X built in burning stuff. 2) went over to the TV service department and they have a standalone DVD to DVD copy machine, that didnt work. 3) used MacTheRipper to rip the DVD and then made a disc image with disc copy then burnt, no luck here either.

some background info:

The computer I used to make the DVD is the same one I am using to try to copy with.

The media is all the same.

here is a pic of the DVD structure that wont work in a standalone player. The audio folder is empty

That may not be much of a help, but I made lots of DVDs using iDVD and never had any problems to play them on a standalone, Mac or PC. So my guess is something is wrong with the source media (your DVD). Any read errors? Do you still have the original data used for the DVD? Have you tried something like Alcohol or Clone CD?
