optimizing win xp

I recently started using Win XP. I need help optimizng XP.
Can anybody help me or point me to a site that I can learn about it.
When I go to "Task Manger" under "processes- I usually have close to 30 things running in the back ground. I don't no what have of them are. Also, are there any other ways to optimize XP?

You can use "TweakXP" and "Tweak UI". TweakXP is more complete though.

The procedure of optimization of win xp is not a small matter contrary to all made solutions (such tweak xp).

My optimizations:
- installation of windows (choice of the partition)
- installation of drivers and settings
- the basis of register (optimization)
- optimize the memory of the system
and more ...

However, some magazines exist: " PC PERF may/june 2004 " or " Guide pratique xp " ( the hidden settings )".

A particular attention is required.

If you click on "task list" you will get an extensive list of processes in windows, what they do, and should you get rid of them or not. Simply a great site :)

turn off the services u dont need. very helpful, it will free up ur ram and there will be less processing task for windows.
