why log in as admin to rip dvds

Can someone explain me, why it is necessary to be logged in as admin - or as a user with admin rights- to rip dvds??!
just wondering... :confused:

Because only admin has permission to use SPTI.

" Cannot find the ScenAid installation directory in the registry.
Pls verify registry key or reinstall"
is the error message.
