i dont know if this is the right forum but.... i have a dvd with english stream and the same movie on VHS with czech stream. so my idea was put the czech stream onto DVD. i'm goin' from VHS to DV to FireWire to PC. everything's fine except audio/video - out of sync. :(
there is no drop frames and with media player the same avi is synchronized. HELP PLEASE !!! :)

not sure this is the right forum or not... anyways:

there are many ways to do this, I would do it this way:

figure the offset that the sound is off.
then use a wav editor to add or delete that much sound from the beginning

Then find out if the audio drifts(is in synched @ 1 point but not at another)
if it does not drift you are done.

if it does drift use a program called SoundStretch that can be gotten from here:

This program is free, and can be used to adjust how long your audio without changing the pitch. You need to find 2 audio landmarks in the film(further apart the better), determine the actual time between the 2 and the correct time between the 2. Then apply that ratio to the program and it _should_ change the length of the audio so that it will synch up with the video throughout(without changing pitch).

However, if there are any extra/modified scenes in the vhs or the dvd then you will have a hell of a time.

Hope this is helpfull, anyone feel free to correct me or suggest a better way.

P.S. if you are using avisynth, then you can do the audio offset with the DelayAudio command, and the TimeStretch option to change the speed of the video.
