I got problems playing back xvid/ogg/ogm movies if they are bigger than 2 GB (1.9 GB is fine). Starting such a movie (MediaPlayerClassic) makes the Explorer (Win XP) use some 95% of processor power (Barton 2500) and obviously it takes ages for the movie to start and then the framerate is too low (21 fps max.). After closing the movie and/or the player the Explorer still uses up most of the processor power. All I can do then is to turn off the Explorer and turn it on again through the Task Manager. Luckily the movie can be still on, so I am actually able to watch large ogm movies.

The problem does not occur when I put the movie into Matroska.

Is it a known problem?

Disable the built-in OGM-splitter from MPC (or, if it is disabled, enable it).

This has nothing all to do with the built-in OGG/OGM splitter in MPC.

You can find a solution to this problem in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62222)
