4:3 To 16:9 ..but cut the top and bottom? :(

hi,

if someone else asked that, sorry, i didnt find anything :(
i hav a 4:3 divx movie and i want to change into 16:9

BUT

i dont want to just resize it (i did with nandub..)
cause that looks stupid..

i just want to "cut" the top and the bottom.. means add
black lines.. so that it is 16:9..

how i said, with nandub i only can resize it..
but i only want to cut..

can anyone tell me with what program and how i can do that?

First of all you must be sure what exactly is yours pixel matrix (of the picture) now.
If it is 720x576 or 720x408 then there is no need to cut.Use MPEG-4Mediator to set up correct Aspect Ratio.

I'm not sure about nandub, but in Virtualdubmod there is the nulltransform filter. After you add this filter you can crop the picture.
If you want to add black bars (not recommended) then you must use the resize filter.

If you have a 4:3 clip that fills the screen, going to 16:9 without resizing would require adding black borders at the sides, not the top and bottom. Can you please clarify what you need to do, as your request is not making sense to me.
