1.0.12 crash with VirtualDubMod.

I use DGIndex 1.0.12 to make an index of a set of 3 *.ts files - worked fine - used latest VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1 Bld 2439 - and use 2pass WMV codes - crashed at the end of the first pass (crash log is below if it helps).

Using DVD2AVI3 - it does not crash.

Not sure there's much information to be had here, but for what it's worth......

Are you using VFAPI? closeVideo() is a VFAPI interface function.

Can you strip down the problem to a point where I can duplicate it easily? I don't have a WMV encoder.

Definitely not using VFAPI - The script is nothing more than:

mpeg2source("foobar.d2v")
LanczosResize(1280,720)

(ForceFilm was used on the *.ts files)



There is only DGDecode.dll in the plugins folder (well, decomb is in there too, but that's it).

I'll see if I can make anything smaller crash it....

I have strange problems with dgindex too.

However vdubmod seldom crashes, usually simply disappear!

I have tried to use other compression codecs and other avisynth version but the random magic still occurs.

I can't constantly reproduce the problem, however dvd2avi (i.e. the one in gk 0.28.9) works fine.

On my crash - it doesn't happen with XVid, only with WMV, so I'm assuming that it's actually WMV's fault at this point. The same file that crashes consistently with WMV works encoding Xvid...

After some trials and errors test, I have found that the problem relies on xvid 1.0.1. Version 1.0 or unofficial Javor's one solve the problems.

i today experienced something similar:

i used latest virtualdubmod with also no special .avs script (crop, lanczos, dgmpegdec)
i set the two passes with xvid as always and started the encode
after i came home i noticed that my pc had crashes (black screen, no way to do anything -> restart)

after looking at the job control i noticed that the first pass seem to have been finished, the second pass was marked as "aborted" (i never experienced this before by using mpeg2dec3 or mpegdecoder)
of course i used the latest dgindex with the .dll coming with the package

i will try to run tomorrow the second pass on the created first .pass file

I just want to add my two cents to this topic. I am not sure if this is a problem of DGMPGDec or XVID, but I don't think it's a VDubMod problem.

I myself experience warnings in VDubMod when I encode certain movies. In particular 'Kill Bill' gives me "thread delay" or "stalled thread" warnings right at the very end of the encode process.

The output file is *usually* OK, however. I am running DGMPGDec 1.0.12 and XVID 1.01. Be glad to help someone solve this.

Just an F.Y.I. I also have the crashing issue with XVID 1.0.1, not any earlier version though.
