is this possible. I have a Pinnacle TV Card adn also an ATI Radeon 9200 graphics card and i need to know how i can record form the pc to vhs without any extra hardware. Do i require a specific program?

Radeon 9200 is both a technology as well as a set of products. The ATI card called a "Radeon 9200" has TV-OUT, either composite or S-Video. See the picture in:http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9200/radeon9200/gallery.htmlThe RCA socket is for composite video, the multipin connector is for S-Video.

You will need to also connect the audio out to your VCR. Typically, you'll need a Y cable that has two RCA plugs at one end for the VCR, and a single 3.5mm stereo plug at the other, for your soundcard's "line out" socket.

You'll need to set the TV as the primary display in the card's configuration. (Control Panel ... Display ... Settings .... Advanced ... Displays)

If your ATI card has a s-video out, you can do it that way. However ATI drivers have a ("I am smarter than you" built in selector"), and if the load (TV Monitor or VCR) doesn't present a 51 to 180 ohm load to ground, the output may not turn on.

Depending on what ATI card I use, I have to add that shunt resistant. After that eveything is OK. The output will not be full screen, but 640x480, but there is software out there that can trick some ATI cards.

Doesn't your capture board have a video out? My DC30s did.

The output will not be full screen, but 640x480, but there is software out there that can trick some ATI cards.??? I'm using an old Radeon 7500 and it works perfectly fine in 800x600 overscan mode (no black bars on the tv at all - perfect output, better than most cheap DVD players!).

I'm using the standard ATI "Radeon Family" Catalyst 4.0421 drivers. The only downside is that when I want perfect video output on the tv, I have to set the tv as the primary monitor in the driver tab which then sets my monitor to the same refresh rate and resolution, that is 800x600, 50Hz (PAL).
Doesn't matter much to me because I usually turn off the monitor when I'm watching video over the tv.

btw. my Radeon has a special mini-DIN connector which outputs S-Video and composite, I need to use the splitter cable that came with the card to connect a composite cable to it. I could connect an S-Video cable without using this splitter cable (but I don't have a tv with S-Video, so I only get b/w)
