Is there any video editing software out there that isn't really big, and will show a video frame by frame with the corresponding audio spikes at the same time?

Yes, go to www.magix.com and look for MEP2004 or Movie Edit Pro 2004.
Drag the mouse and move the audio graphic track anywhere on the time line

$79.95 US 16 anything you want tracks. You can frame serve to it. Does things 10 times faster than vegas & Adobe, and the demo clip will teach you 80% of the program is a few hours or less. Burn DVDs from it, you name it, it does it.

Hey Richard,

I noticed that Amazon (US) is selling "Magix Video Deluxe 2.0 Plus" for ~ $10. Do you know what the differences are? Seems this one is discontinued. At least Magix does not list in on their site. Amazon says it does 32 tracks.

I'll probably pick it up, just to see .... :)

I started with Video Deluxe Plus with 32 tracks ( these tracks can contain anything video, audio, .BMP, FXs) plus it comes with 2 other CDs. The first was very unstable. There is a patch 2.06 which makes it very stable but not quite as stable as MEP2004 with is 16 tracks. For $10.00 I would not pass it up.

You can also frame serve to it with multible frameservers and even comes with a FX audio program. There is a 2 gig and 4 gig file import problem with all of them but I have posted a work around. In this program you can burn DVDs and with many things that would take hour to setup with Avisynth & VD just takes a few seconds.

I got this and it is great! For 10 Bucks!

It imports, encodes, burns, has a timeline, nice audio editor, ....

I have an old copy of premier and vegas, but I really don't use them. Matching this with my normal software (avisynth, virtualdub, maestro, mainconcepts) works really well. Mind you, there are a few quirks, but no show stoppers.

The real charm is the audio editor and time line. Doing a lot of cuts and transitions with Avisynth takes forever. This guy even does a save without a re-encode for the parts it does not touch. Havn't really tested to see how true this is, but that is a nice option.

Thanks again Richard !

Glad you like it. Yes it has some bugs but we have been able to work around them at the forum. This software is just plain fun. The current US version is MEP2004, and will be replaced very soon with key frame animation and other highend features, all for $99.95. There is a 178 page pdf manual in the installed Magix sub folders.

Make sure that you download the 2.06 patch!

Well I doubt he is still looking for a program after almost 2 years now :p

But that looks like an interesting piece of software, nonetheless.

i've tried it few days ago.
it's VERY simple video editor. can add callouts, own logos & watermarks, can burn dvd automatically to watch on a dvd player and publish video in different popular formats (avi, wmv, mpeg, even flash (swf/flv) and gif), also can record a screen (region, window) and then allows to edit it.
for those who newbies i think.
