Hi, I use DVDshrink for my movies and was wondering how do I get the subs to some on 'Only when needed'? It seems like I either have to enable the sub which then makes the English subs stay on all the time or just turn them off. Not sure how to make it like the original so that only the english subs show up when the other language is talking.
Thanks

I had to read your question 3 or 4 times...I think I understand now. You saying let's say it's English Audio but there are Russians talking and you don't see the subtitles for those instances where they resort to speaking their native tongue. Well I could be wrong but IIRC they are embedded in different subs. So my advice is to keep all subtitles always. Let's say they're are like 5 subs at 3MB..that's like 15 to 20MB for 4,474MB on a dvd+r. Only time you wouldn't want to keep subs is if you have a dvd that has 15 subs which I've heard exist over in Europe.

Yes, your right and I can enable the sub I want manually but lets say for example in the move 'BulletProof Munk' (4 Subs: French, English, and Spanish) where they start talking the other language near the middle of the movie, subs are off until, on the original DVD the english subs will come on for that instance only Automatically but on the backup DVD I need to manually select the English sub stream 2, with my sutitle selection option on my DVD player or the subs won't show up at all. I hope I'm making sence :)
I also did 'Loard of the rings' and before I watch it (The backup) I have to Manually enable the English sub track 4 or the english subs won't show up when they talk in their own tongue. Stuff like that.

Hi all. :)
Holomatrix, when using DVD Shrink "Re-author" mode, right click on the movie-title (after having dragged it to the left pane).
You will then have access to a "Select default streams" sub-menu.
There you'll be able to choose what streams are to be played and/or selected by default.
To find out beforehand what stream you need to choose:
- play the DVD using WinDVD (or equivalent).
- right-click on the movie while it's playing.
- access the subtitles sub-menu and see which one is checked.
In DVD Shrink, make sure the corresponding (same number) subpicture stream is played by default . ;)
