I still don't know how to keep the menu with this program. Help please!

I ripped the movie onto my hard disk and I tried and tried and still
can't keep the menu.

Here's what I'm doing.
I load up the disc in ifoedit.
I preview each id's and seeing which is extra content.
Then I click vob edit and keep only the ids that is part of the main movie.
So how do I get the main menu??

I tried many things and it just wont work.

IfoEdit doesn't allow to keep menus. Try DVD Shrink instead.

But I want to eliminate some content and correct my vob pointers too.

try using vob blanker, or titleset blanker, or dvd stripper for removing extras m8. programs are pretty straight forward to use ;)

vob blanker does blanking by titles
titleset blanker does blanking by titlesets
dvd stripper does blanking by vobID or cellID (i think, can't remember exactly)

IfoEdit most definitely allows to keep the menus.

silverfoxtp said that he used the "Vob Extra" (vob edit) button in IfoEdit to edit the DVD. Well, that command does not effect the menu. If you want to strip a menu item in IfoEdit, you use the "Menu Extra" button. So he is not touching the menu in anyway.

I suspect the problem silverfoxtp is running into, is that he is stripping a first play extra and the disc is crashing, preventing access to the menu, because he did not adjust the first play PGC.

Or perhaps silverfoxtp is forgetting to copy the menu items. When you edit in ifoedit it writes the modified files to a secondary directory. You either have to check the box in IfoEdit that says "Auto copy menu files to destination" or you have to copy them by hand.

Also don't forget to click the "Get VTS sectors" button when you reopen your modified files with your copied menu files.

You right, IfoEdit won't touch the menus when using VOB Extras unless you check the box "Create new IFO files (Movie Only)". I assumed we're talking about movie-only backup. However, I don't see how stripping VOB IDs can affect the menus since the scripting of the stripped segments would remain intact. Also, IfoEdit doesn't copy VIDEO_TS files into the destination folder unless you are stripping streams, not just VOB IDs. Therefore the destination folder won't play as a normal DVD. Same goes for the option Auto copy menu files - the DVD won't play at all from the destination folder without it.

However, stripping streams can mess up a DVD due to stream re-mapping. This is covered in one of 2Cool's guides, so silverfoxtp should read them first, and then post the details should the problem persist afterwards.

I agree with you. I had assumed that silverfoxtp was just editing and not creating new ifo for movie only mode. You assumed it was movie only. It was not clear in silverfoxtp's post which option was being used. So we are both correct. :)

If he wants selective editing and menus he should just use DVD-ReMake... If he wants a movie only Shrink is still the easiest way to get er done and keep the structure intact...
