hi... im now really new to the old ripping and encoding files from DVD's but im new to putting them onto CD's so that i can use then on DVD players...

the thing is that i followed the auto_gk tutorial that comes with the installation about ripping and encoding them but when i write them to a cd and put them into a dvd player it comes up with "bad disk"

any help with this?

Sure. Unless your DVD player is one of the few models that can play MPEG-4 videos, you can't play .avi videos on the player. Data CD-Rs make great backup media for .avi files that are played on PCs, but there are only a relatively few standalone DVD players capable of playing them.

Check your player's capabilities at the database at www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers to see what media and formats it supports. Few DVD players can play MPEG-4s, but many can play Video CDs or Super Video CDs (VCD and SVCD is the terminology used).
