View Full Version : Maestro and animated menus

I've got an episode disc (Babylon 5) and I would like to get my native language subtitles in it. I have put subtitles to movies that were on DVD before, but never on episode disc. So, as I assumed, I encountered some problems. I was told that episode discs usually contain Multi-PGC's, and because of that their structure would have to be reconstructed in Scenarist/Maestro.

My knowledge about Maestro is quite low, but I managed to did pretty well with it. I have now succesfully imported the audio, subtitles, video and chapters. The only thing left would be menus. I'd like to use the animated menus which the original DVD had, but I'm having problems importing them.

How to get those animated menus working? The menu is about 60MB, and it's obviously a .VOB file. Tried turning it into a m2v, but Maestro said something about "Unknown ..." What to do?

Big thanks in advance, and sorry if there already are threads about this. There were threads about animated menus, but they didn't quite were the same as this.

I have not seen the Babylon 5 DVDs.

When you talk of animated menus, do you mean animated subpictures in those menus, or simply moving video?

I'm not 100% sure, but I would say moving video.

Well, if it's just a video background (originally created in a compositing app, such as Adobe After Effects), then you should be able to simply drag-and-drop it from the Asset Bin into the Maestro Menu Editor.

However, if this does not work, then please post the exact message that Maestro gives you when you attempt to do so.

Just to confirm - you have demuxed this VOB file into an elementary .m2v MPEG video stream, right..?

Demuxed it with VobEdit, is it okay to do it with that prog?

Well, what exact error does Maestro tell you when you use this demuxed stream? If you tell me this error, then I will have a better chance of helping you identify the cause of the problem.

Well if you just demuxed the, say VTS_1_0.VOB then you would have multiple menu items in one m2v stream (stills and movies). So first demux the VTS_1_0.VOB by celID or VobID with Vobedit. Then you can demux the m2v file (from the right Vob).

(I am assuming here that VTS_1_0.VOB is the menu)

ps if you want the old overlay buttons, use subrip on this vob
