View Full Version : Scenarist ILVU error with mutli-angles

Hi.

I'm using the big 3 method to backup the extras DVD of XMen 2 and after importing the files into scenarist and trying to multiplex them, I get the following error :

Info Multiplexing VOB Angle Stream 1
Error The duration between VOBs in the multi-angle block is not same. (Main:3581.0 frames , Angle#1:3583.0 frames)
Error Please check the video streams or the track editing.
Error dvd_mux : DoMux Multiplexing Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (Extras-VTS02_003_Track_t.vob.1).
Error Duration between VOBs in the multi-angle block is not same.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Error Multiplexing failed, Track "VTS02_003_Track"

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD Video files could not be created

When I check the stream in question (Angle 1), I can see that it's indeed a bit longer than the main stream (Main duration = 2:23.05, Angle 1 duration = 2:23.07)

I managed to overcome this problem by selecting the Angle1 video stream and clicking on its duration tab in Information Window (it automatically changed its duration to 2:23.05, without me having to manually edit it... Strange ! ).

Anyways, when I tried to compile again, a different problem appeared:

Info Interleaving VOB, Block No 1
Error ERROR in Interleaving.
Error ERROR in making ILVU.
The PTSs are different at ILVU#6 in CELL#1 between angles.
Error Dvd_ilv : Reconfig Vobset Tree Error
Error Terminated Interleaving (X2Extras-VTS02_003_Track_t.vob).
Error Start PTS of ILVUs in each angle are deferent. The encoding paremeters should be same between angles.
Error Interleave is failed.
Error Multiplexing failed, Track "VTS02_003_Track"

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD Video files could not be created

I used "Demux by VobID" in DIF4U for this VTS set (it was automatically checked by the program). After a search through the forums I found out that one of the solutions would be to re-encode all angle streams having the "Angle" box checked in BatchCCEWS. However, in order to save me the re-encoding time, can someone please tell me if there are other alternatives without the need to re-encode ?

Well, I managed to re-encode the multi-angle streams (thankfully they were not that long) checking the angle box in BatchCCE and everything went on fine with Scenarist.

However, when creating the ISO image of the disk and playing it with PowerDVD, I am unable to use the Navigation Slider or the Shuttle to scroll through the movie (when trying to use them, the movie freezes and although the time counter continues, the movie won't play further). This only happens in the stream with the multiple angles, whereas I can flawlessly scroll through the other streams. Keep in mind that I CAN scroll through the multi-angled stream on the original DVD, however not in the backup I made...

So my questions are :

1) Is there any way to deal with the ILVU error without re-encoding ? (in case the stream is too long to re-encode ?)

2) Why can't I scroll through the multi-angled stream on the backup disk I made ? It doesn't matter for now cause it's only extras matterial which I'll probably never watch again, however what if the main movie was multi-angled and I couldn't scroll through that ? It would be pretty annoying... Thus, I would like to find out what I did wrong...

Once again, thanks for any input.

P.S. : Please mods move this to the DIF4U section. I just read the sticky. Sorry.

Not being able to scroll through the stream in software players is usually related to your IFOUpdating without copying the time map. Re-update your original IFOs with Trahald's BatchIFOUpdate (Transfer TIME MAP and ADMAP checked) and everything should be ok :).

Well, the disk is now burnt but I'll keep that in mind for future backups. However, I can't understand why the multi-angled stream was the ONLY stream that couldn't be scrolled through... If it had to do with the IFOUpdate, then the rest of the streams which share the same VTS with the multi-angled stream would have the same problem too. But those streams do not have the problem in question.

Well, this time I am backing up another extras disk with lots of multiangle streams, so I would appreciate it if someone told me a way to deal with the "not being able to scroll through multi-angle streams" problem, because almost all the disk contains multiangle and the lack of ability to scroll through those streams will be very annoying.

If it has to do with the TIME MAP, as MLS suggested, could you please tell me how to enable that in IFOUpdate ? Up to now, I have the settings that the guide on this site recommends.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't want to use Trahald's app, then the option is labeled "VTS_TMAPTI Table Transfer (Time Map)". But sometimes ifoupdate has problems with the timemap transfer so I'd highly recommend trying out BatchIFOUpdate, in which case the option is as stated above, "Transfer TIME MAP and ADMAP" in options.

Well, VTS_TMAPTI Table Transfer (Time Map) is checked in IFOUpdate, however I'll also try BatchIfoUpdate next time to see if it fixes this problem.

However I've noticed this time that the scroll through option is also disabled in the original DVD I'm trying to backup. If I use BatchIfoUpdate, will I be able to have the scroll through option available in the backup, although it's not available in the original ?

no.. your referring to UOP restrictions.. you can disable those in ifoedit but those are usually there for a purpose

check in the advanced authoring forum.. 2cool has some cheats/guides on how to take care of those kind of things

Ohhhh, I thought you meant like it froze in software players after a few seeks or whatever (classic timemap issue), not that it wouldn't let you do it at all, heh. Sorry to misinform.

I see. Well, the DVD that had the seeking disabled was Fight Club extras disk and although I removed the PUOPs through IfoEdit, as the guide suggests, seeking is still disabled.

And also, when encoding the X-Men extras disk, although seeking was enabled in the original disk, the backup disk had it disabled for the multi-angled streams... The problem only occurs in the multi-angled streams only and not in the whole movie.
