Hi!
A friend asked me if i could transfer the video from his Sony TRV255E to my pc, edit and burn it on dvd. I've never done it, so can anyone tell me how much space do i need on my hard drive just to transfer it to HDD? I'll worry about editing later, he needs it transferred pronto, and i havent done my backing-up. Thanx

According to the FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30495) Q7, DV consumes approximately 3.6MB per second. That's approximately 216MB per minute.

Ooops, one more question - how long does it take to transfer 90min tape through firewire?

Correct, the DV transfer via firewire takes place in realtime. But editing, encoding, authoring, and finally burning the video on DVD media will likely take many hours. :)

I don't worry about that, transferring is my only concern since he's going ayway and needs it done in a jiffy. Thanx for the answers
