Hello everyone,

usualy when i'm converitng from DIVX to VCD using DVD2SCD i get 2 cd's, the second cd is approximately fill with 100-200Mb.

i wolud like to know if i can convert the movie considering the global amount of data i want to fill it into (2 cd = ~1400MB).
i just had that thought to get a better quality VCD movie.

VCDs are recorded at Constant Bitrate i.e they are encoded using CBR encoding method. In CBR all the frames in the movie get the same BitRate so that's nothing D2S can do to increase quality or increase a size of the converted file. Creating an SVCD will give you both better quality than VCD as well as it may fill up the 2nd CD.

In the forums as well as on DOOM9 web site, it is recommended that you use TMPGEnc Encoder for better quality if you are making VCDs. If you are already using it than getting a better source will increase the quality i.e use a DVD input instead of a DivX encoded file which is already a whole lot compressed and has lesser informartion of the Video data as compared to DVD.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
If you have a such problem, this means doing something wrong with the settings of D2S. Thats why we need your log. You can find it in the D2S working directory as a txt file. Let's copy it here!

You can use D2SRoBa. If you have the latest ver, it was installed with D2S. Just lauch roba and set the cd size to 700 and no of CDs to 2. It will fill both of the discs to the edge. If this doesnt help POST YOUR LOG!

@ Manngo, erez-ash is converting to VCD, which as Amit points out, is encoded at a constant bitrate of 1150kbps. Thus output filesize is directly proportionate to movie length.

@ erez-ash, that said, it is certainly possible that your DVD player will play VCD's at a higher bitrate, or even variable bitrate. Although this would not make a standard-compliant VCD and so compatibility with standalones cannot be guaranteed it is certainly worth a try. In this case, try Manngo's RoBa recommendation, although I think he meant "set CD size to 800" not 700.

@Nick
OK OK. You are right Nick. It was a terrible post.

@erez-ash
Terribly sorry for misinforming you.

Why don't you create SVCDs? Your player does not support?
