Hello,

I have been trying to convert some PAL files I have to NTSC with TMPGenc 2.5, but the encoding always locks up around 99%. I have been simply opening the files, selecting NTSC dvd as the format, and then clicking Start. I am not using any filters or extra options. As well, I only have this problem when encoding PAL files.

Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Are you sure it's actually locked up?
Try leaving it for an hour. Make sure you have enough disk space.

Remember that once TMPGEnc is finished with encoding it has to write the header file to the MPEG. There is always a pause at the end of encoding. Depending on the length of the file and the speed of your computer this can take a long time. Do as davexnet suggested and wait an hour or two.

Well, it freezes at the same frame near the end of the file every time. And the file is only about 3 minutes long. I tried leaving it for an hour but the time remaining, frame count and time used counters all remained at the same spot the whole time.

presumably you're enconding an avi of ome sort?

Try using virtualdub to scan the avi for errors.

Actually, I am converting PAL standard dvd files. Is there a tool to scan this type of file for errors?
