I was trying to back up my Coupling season 2 dvd today and ran into a weird problem that I was hoping someone may be able to help me with. Im using CCESP 2.69 + elCCE and have VBR = 25 and quality = 16 with passes = 4. I ripped the dvd using DVD Decrypter in File mode under main movie + Ifo's. Encoding went smoothly (although at almost 8 hours a bit long) and rebuilding seemed to go nicely as well. Problem was when I went to burn the disc.

First I tried in DVD Shrink and it said that the video_ts folder was missing a vob file. Then in Nero it said that the DVD didn't have the proper allocation or structure. It said that if I burned the disc that it may not play properly. This is the first time I have run into this problem after about 5 or so sucessful backups using the same process. Any ideas?

Hi,

check if your original disk has a OKb vob file. This is a redundant file. Nero doesn't need that file to burn safely, even with that warning appear. But first, test dthe disk using WinDVD or powerDVD to check if there is no error.

There are several posts regarding this question.

It played fine in PowerDVD after the rebuild. I also remember seing a 0mb vob file. How can you delete the vob file when all the associate files remain?

P.S. - I did a few searches but couldn't seem to match it. Maybe I used the wrong terms.

If this is the problem, and i guess it is, just ignore the warning that nero Gives and burn the DVD. My advise, use a DVD-RW/+RW and test on your standalone. No sense in wasting DVD-R's.:)
