No doubt it's a marketing thing, if people (em masse) actually used their capacity yahoo would be in for some financial trouble. Just as if everyone used their "unlimited" broadband (or dialup) internet connections to anything like their full capacity, some harsh limits would be introduced.

Its like when you used to do a DivW-wink-3.11 hi-motion encode and set the bitrate. when the bitrate isn't pressing against the limit, raising the limit doesn't increase the encode size. when your customers are only using 8 megs of their 50 meg mailboxes, it probably wont do much to raise the limit to 2 gigs.

True, I too feel the 100MB is more than required. around 10-15MB for normal user is enough. :)

( btw, if they allow the rest for webhosting then i'm impressed. :D 85MB free web hosting!:devil: )

Frankly I think it's silly to try and beat out google by offering more space. Most users probably didn't even go up to the 4 MB limit. Maybe yahoo doesn't realize that space isn't the only thing that could use an upgrade ;-)

I'm totally down for this idea, but we all know if they did offer the space for web hosting then Yahoo would be... I'll let Matthew take it from here

the 6 MB i had before was too little. i regularly had to clean my mailbox up. im quite happy with the upgrade. :)
