IfoEdit final procedures in big3 guide ?

Hi.

I've successfully re-encoded and re-authored the T2 DVD following the newest big3 guide (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/scenaid.htm) and I have come to the point where the guide suggests to perform some final procedures (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ifoedit-finalprocedures.htm) in ifoedit before burning the file.

These procedures involve a) making the DVD region free, b) cancelling any PUOs you may not want and c) making final sector adjustments. My questions are :

1) Regarding making the disk region free and removing PUOs, do I have to do these through ifoedit in the final procedures if I have enabled those options in DVD Decryter while burning the original ISO image on my HDD ?

2) What will be the drawbacks if I don't do the final sector adjustments ? Will the disk be playable on standalone DVD players if I skip those adjustments ?

As you might have understood, all I want to find out is if the "ifoedit final procedures" can be totally skipped without any major disadvantaged in the output disk.

1) Yes this would need to be done anyway.. You have to remember that you are reauthoring most of your assets via Scenarist and this more then likely will reset a region as default. This step isn't needed really it's just an option that some people do. Personally, I don't

2) Yes you DEFIANTLY need to do the sector update. DVD Players do not understand file structures the way a computer does. Instead of file names / directory structures, it understands file offsets (IE Sector locations). Updating the Sectors properly sets the ifos so they understand where on the DVD each .vob file will be located. If you do not update, either your DVD will not play back at all, or you'll end up with chapters that jump all over the place, menus that take you to the wrong VTS set.. etc...

Aha, I see, thanks for clearing that up. So I should update the sectors in the VIDEO_TS.IFO file as well, right ? (cause the guide at some point when using IfoUpdate, it says NEVER!!! update VIDEO_TS.IFO!!!.)

i belive what the guide says is NEVER copy/overright the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

when you do a "Get Sectors" in ifoedit or ifoupdate, it modifies all the ifo files. Therefore you only need to run it once
