View Full Version : ScenAid Authoring TOO well :)
I don't know if anyone here has done Miracle R1 with ScenAid but heres my problem.
The first VTS:
PGC1: Main Movie
PGC2: 1 second clip
PGC3: Short clip
PGC4: Short clip
The problem is, that the VOBID's used for the footage in PGC3 and 4 are seamlessly integrated into the main feature when the DVD is played. When I demux this by PGC instead of VOBID, I have the scenes in my PGC1 m2v, and also in my PGC3 and 4 etc. This is the problem when demuxing by PGC, but since the clips are so short I save a lot of time just having the footage replicated. However this causes some problems with the authoring portion. When I import into scenarist, ScenAid creates the first PGC like the original DVD, in which case in the middle of the film there are NSM links to cells that contain the short clips, which means pauses at the points of transition which is annoying. If just the PGC01 m2v was used, all links would be seamless and everything would be peachy. Anywho, thats the issue and I don't really see a way to avoid it, but then again I'm not a programmer.
Many thanks to D3s7 for taking on the challenge of writing a Scenarist authoring app that supports VOBID demux, he has done a great job.

I'm not really sure what you are referring to when you say you have the footage replicated?
If this is a normal setup (which it sounds like) you should be able to demux by PGC using the duplicate PGC check routines in DoItFast4u!.
If the scenes are being flagged as non-seamless, see if the option to change to seamless is available.
If you can post the layout of the ifo (if it's not too big) might give us a better idea of what's going on.. also.. need a little more detail on what your attempting to do with "footage replication".
PGC1 uses VOBIDs 1,2,3,4
PGC3 uses VOBID 3
PGC4 uses VOBID 4
What I mean when I say footage replication, is that the portion of the movie in VOBID 3 is in my PGC1 mpv that CCE gives me when I re-encode, as well as being in the PGC3 mpv. Which takes double the space on the DVD, whereas the retail disc only has one VOBID used for both PGCs. Since I did not demux by VOBID, I have the footage in the PGC1 mpv as well as the PGC3 mpv. Does that make sense?
When its authored by scenaid, and I double click on the NSM next to the scene that it jumps to VOBID 3 in the retail, it shows the PGC3 mpv being used.
Ugh I wish I had kept an iso before I lent the disc to my aunt. I'll get back to you when I get the disc back, or could someone who has it perhaps post the IFO layout for the main VTS?

Ah...
the duplicate PGC check in DoItFast4u! should have caught that.....
however, you should have been able to remove the .avs files for pgc3 and 4 then ScenAid will skip over them and use the assets that were in PGC1
as far as showing PGC3 used, yes.. it IS PGC3.. what you need to check is what the linked scene is then trace that back.. my guess is it would have been VTSX_V3_CY (x being vts set and y being that cell)

I will try that when I get the disc back, thanks :)

Well before you do that, make sure you have the "detect duplicate PGC" option turned on in Doitfast4u.
If that doesn't detect duplicate PGC's, then the above method won't work and you'll have to demux by VOBID (although I don't know based off what you posted it wouldn't detect them). Other benifit to that is it will increase your bitrate as it won't include the PGC3,4 assets twice

I'm filing that in my 'useful ScenAid tricks' folder. ;)
