So, I'm in the market for my first DVD burner (finally). I've been looking around all over online. I have a few questions about the NEC ND-2510A Drive.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-152-022&depa=0

1. It says this drive is capable of burning dual layer dvd-r9s correct? From what I can tell this seems to be the only drive capable of this. Am I wrong? Are there others? Where can I find dual layer media to burn with?

2. Has anyone had experience with previous NEC drives? Would you recommend them? Any problems/concerns that I may encounter? What kind of media is recommended?

3. Anyone know where I can get one Retail? I've only seen bulk versions online on every site I've visited.

Thanks for your time.

Where can I find dual layer media to burn with? There is also Sony DRU-700A dual layer burner; check it out at http://www.sonystyle.com/. You can't really find DL media anywhere just yet, and even if you can then it will be about $20 apiece. 2. Has anyone had experience with previous NEC drives? Would you recommend them? For that see www.videohelp.com (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDname=NEC+ND-2510A&Submit=Search&cdrs=&cdrws=&dvdrs=&dvdrws=&dvdprs=&dvdprws=&dvdprsdl=&dvdrams=&buffer=Any&list=0&orderby=Name&Search=Search). You can find some merchants there who might be selling it in the retail package.

EDIT: Sony offers DL media for $15; item DL-94912 at their site www.sonystyle.com (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=6xoyU8OT7TEyRYNDsK44WIyCBrN6QwMFVNs=?CategoryName=hid_pr_cpu_dbllayermedia&ProductSKU=DL94912)
