I have an old mpeg movie i wanted on dvd from svcd. i transcoded it from 480 x 576 (25fps) and 44100Hz (2ch) to
NTSC, VBR with Linear PCm audio.
This is the 1st time i used this program and i thought i would end up with .vob files i could just burn to dvd (4.3gb total after encode)but instead i end up with 4.3gigs of .mpeg.
please tell me how to burn this into a dvd? Do i need to use my WinAVI Video Converter program to turn the larger .mpeg file in to .vob files or is there a way to use this NTSC .mpeg file for the DVD to auto start?
Thanks so much for the help!!

You should try Tmpgenc DVD Author "TDA". It will take your mpeg (if it's dvd compliant) and author a dvd.
.
You got the first step correct, you took your source and made an ntsc mpeg2 for dvd. Your second step is to author your dvd with that mpeg2.
.
I mentioned TDA because you used their express app. You could also use DVDlab (http://www.mediachance.com). I think they both have a 30day trial.
.
.
source->mpeg2->dvd
or
pal mpeg->ntsc mpeg->dvd
or
source->express->tda =dvd

great,
thanks for the help. Does this mean you have to encode a non-dvd compliant mpeg twice to get it to work or does dvdlab just let you make a menu and burn it "as-is" (after the 1st encode with express)? is there a program that can do it all in one step or do you have to do this with all your mpegs?
thanks again for your pointers. i have d/led dvdlab and am playing with it as i type.

Does this mean you have to encode a non-dvd compliant mpeg twice...
After you encode it with express you'll have a dvd compliant mpeg. Then you use TDA, Dvdlab, etc. to author your dvd. (2steps)
.
Tda, Dvdlab don't encode(they don't change video), they give you a dvd structure. (vobs, ifos)
.
is there a program that can do it all in one step or do you have to do this with all your mpegs?
There are, Ulead moviefactory($100)/workshop($500) comes to mind. Will you be happy with the results? Thats your call. Plenty of apps exist.
.
Most of the time you'll find bundles, Sony has a Vegas/Architect bundle that runs between $500-$1000.
.
I prefer tmpgenc and dvdlab, better results and cost less.
