View Full Version : Both newest Scenaid versions crash.

Hi.

I am trying to backup one of my DVDs and up to now I have successfully come to the part where I loaded all streams into Scenarist and wait for the program to multiplex it.

However, Scenarist keeps giving me an error that the ac3 stream is too short (relevant thread here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=510278#post510278)), so I was suggested to try the newest versions of Scenaid (up to now I've been using 0.9.0.5).

Although Scenaid 0.9.0.5 works flawlessly without errors, to my surprise, both newest versions of Scenaid (0.9.0.23 and 0.9.0.24) crash :

0.9.0.23:It stops when Opening IFO and building layout for VTS_05. I've tried again and again dozens of time with this version and it always stops at the point I mentioned, and nothing happens (I've waited for more than 10 minutes). It doesn;t shut down or give me an error message, it just stops there...

0.9.0.24:This time the program crashes at the same point the previous version stops ("Opening IFO And building layout" for VTS_05), giving me the following error message :

1) Can someone please help me out to figure what I can do in order to run one of the newest versions of Scenaid ?

2) After uninstalling one version of Scenaid and installing another one, I delete the Scenaid.log created by the previous version in the directory of the movie I'm working on. I would also like to delete ALL files created by the previous version, however I don't know which are those files and I don't want to delete wrong ones, cause I don't have the ISO file of the DVD on my disk anymore (lack of HDD space) just in case I delete something I shouldn't. Can someone please tell me which files Scenaid creates in the movie folder so as for me to delete them and let the newest Scenaid version re-create them ? Maybe that's the reason why newer versions crash (they encounter files created by older versions).

as you eluded to at the bottom, scenaid doesnt seem to like files around that arent suppose to be there. if you sort your directory by date it should be a tad more apparent which files were made by scenaid.. if you like.. feel free to pm me the directory list (you can use dir /od > trahald.txt in dos from the project dir

PM sent. Thanks a lot for helping me out. Hopefully, getting rid of those files will help me overcome the problem.

Please don't take the dates into consideration though, cause during the last 48 hours, I've run Scenaid\Scenarist dozens of time trying to fix the problem...

Well, I deleted every file that had to do with previous Scenaid versions (thanks Trahald for showing me which files to delete), however the problem still insists popping up... Trahald told me to remove the VTS05 folder from the project folder and run Scenaid again and, to my surprise, everything went fine... Scenaid analyzed all folders correctly and exported the script without problems.

I believe it's a bug with Scenaid and, well, if I can do anything to help you coders fix the bug, I'll do it. I've kept the VTS05 folder just in case you need to see what causes the crush. Just PM me and ask any details you want...

Hopefully this bug will be fixed.

To what it's worth, it's the Human Stain DVD, region 2 (Greece).
