lame codec in tmpg?

Hi,
I heard that it is possible to install the lame sound codec to the tmpgenc.
Can you please tell me how to do this & from where to download (direct links if you can)?

Go to the "Environmental Options" in TMPGEnc. There you can specify the paths for tooLame, Lame, and SSRC.

But don't use mp3 (Lame) for your MPEG-1/MPEG-2/VCD/DVD encodings. For that use tooLame if you want to use a third party enconder. MP3 audio is not compatible with VCD and DVD. You either have to use mpa, ac3, or pcm.

Go to the Doom9 download section to get it.

If you are going to encode SVCD, use the built in audio encoder or you can download the encoder tooLame. Specify in the Environmental Options (found in the menu) that you want to use tooLame.

The audio encoder built into TMPGEnc is good. In the past, it was better to use tooLame. But now the TMPGEnc encoder is improved.

So basically the toolame and tmpg audio encoding quality is about the same?

They sound almost the same, most people can't tell the difference.

But make sure TMPGEnc's audio encoder is set on high quality:
Go to the menu and select "Evironmental setting"
Click on the audio engine tab.
Go the section that says "sampling frequency convertor".
Make sure "high quality" is checked.

MGrip, You also can use TMPGEnc MPEG tools (File>>MPEG Tools...) to multiplex mp2, mp3 with the MPEG video fille.
The MP2, MP3 file can done with comand-line encoder tooLAME, MP2Enc and Lame Ain't MP3 Encoder(LAME).
I'm usually use the CLI encoder because it can apply more setting than TMPGEnc build-in encoder.
But your MPEG file might non-VCD/DVD compliant :confused: (MPEG1/2 compliant??) if you multiplex the MPEG video with the VBR MPEG audio.
You will receive a warning if you apply it: "XXXX s packets cause buffer underflow. The MPEG file might cause error when it played."
(Although i can play the MPEG wtih the setting above, but still recommend CBR for MPEG audio stream.)

At the top right of the window there is an Options button.
Click it and select preferences.

This is the new renamed "environmental settings". But it seems they took out the extra third party codec settings.

They dumbed down the program a lot and now all the settings are either moved are hidden. I personally do not like the new 3.0 version. You would think that a new version would include more features, rather then features taken away.
