I am trying to convert a PAL SVCD source to a NTSC DVD format. I have read and completely understand the guide to perform this conversion if I leave it in the same PAL format, but I want to be able to watch this on my DVD player which does not support PAL. I understand the difference between PAL and NTSC through exhaustive reading on this site, but have yet to come across a guide that will produce the best results to perform this conversion.

The way I understand it, I have to take my 25 fps progressive PAL source and convert it to a 29.97fps NTSC (interlaced?) source. So I am guessing the proper way to do this is to somehow convert my 25fps source to FILM (24fps) and then telecine my image to get the 29.97fps necessary for NTSC. Does anyone have a guide or can anyone point me in the right direction to get started? Thx in advance!

Hello coaa, don't get me wrong, but this issue has been dealt with a lot of times in the past and quite extensively. Surely u understand and probably aggree that there is no point in reinventing the wheel once more.

Try this poor man's guide for PAL 2 NTSC (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35387&highlight=pal+to+ntsc) and after reading through u may search the forum for pal+conversion+ntsc just to see if u can dig up something more useful.

I did a search before I posted and couldn't find anything specific to my problem. I'll give your search string a try and see what turns up. That link you gave me is for interlaced sources and I have a progressive SVCD.
