I have tried Nero Recode and DVDclone2 to backup some DVDs.
The backups play fine in PowerDVD on PC, but in two standalones they go through the "load" motions but then just drop out to Stop. There is a short flicker of time/title in the display, but they never actually start to play.
If you press Menu quickly during the loading process you can get them to the Menu screen if you time it just right.
So why is this happening?? SOME DVD's do start up. But the large majority don't. Yet all can be started with that menu press timing.
The DVD's give very good KProbe results. Some are Ritek G04's, some Princos, some Ricohjpn (many types tried to find out why). They all play perfectly in PowerDVD. And perfectly in the two standalones IF you get them going!
