View Full Version : Still getting the orange/red lines problem, unsure what I've done wrong.

I have tried every program to backup wrestling DVDs, i.e. WWF. However, Instant Copy analyzes the video and automatically sends it back to the resize screen and doesn't allow transcoding below a certain percentage, usually 1-2 gigs over DVD-R size. DVDShrink allows you to shrink the video down to a usable size, but you seem to not be able to make complete backups and of course, the quality is not good with shrink since it is around 50-60%.
Now the problem with DVD-Rebuilder. I have read through the FAQs about the program, and it seems like it could be my saving grace. However, I'm experiencing the red/orange lines problem. It analyzes the whole thing and just has a black screen with red/orange lines. I realize this is a problem that has been addressed by the author of the program, but I believe that I've followed all the instructions and can't seem to get the program to work. Here is my setup.
I don't have the dvd-rbv directory anywhere in particular, just on the desktop. If it needs to be in program files, please let me know.
Anyway, I am using CCE 2.5 SP(not the trial version). I have set the path to it as: C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder SP\EclCCE.exe . I believe this is all correct, as it said to set the path to the EclCCE instead of the actual CCE program itself. I have the path to the MPEG2DEC3DG inside the AviSynth Plugins directory(C:\Program Files\AviSynth2\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll) and have set it to add to AVS file.
I'm really just baffled as to why this isn't working. If anybody can help me with this problem, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Open one of your .avs files in windows media player (or virutaldub, or any media player). It will tell you what the problem is. You may not know what to do, but you can post it here. Those red lines are actually an error code, but once CCE gets done with it you can't read it.

It would help if you opened the m2v files in dvd2avi and actually read what the error is.

My comment may be totally irrelevant, but, are you sure you have AviSynth 2.54 installed? Notice how your directory is named "AviSynth2" (unless it was a typo)? Everytime I've installed a later version (than 2.0) of AviSynth, it's always named it "AviSynth 2.5" So, if you do have AviSynth 2.0 installed, I'm pretty sure (please correct me if I'm wrong) MPEG2Dec3dg.dll wouldn't work with it; therefore explaining your 'red/orange' error lines.
//Edit
If what I said turns out to be true, I think this should be the link for AviSynth in the "DVD ReBuilder: Installation, Setup, and Usage" thread. By following the current link, you see AviSynth v2.08 first, and people may not think to scroll down to look for AviSynth 2.5 (I've actually had a few friends who have downloaded 2.08 by mistake also). So @ wmansir, can I make a kind suggestion to change the link to this: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57023&package_id=72557 ?

Will do. Good catch. However, AFAIK, DVD-RB will work with AviSynth 2.0x as long as compatible plugins are used. But I am unaware of a 2.0x compatible Mpeg2Dec without the drop frame bug, so it may be a moot point. Regardless, Avs 2.5 should be encouraged.

I would suspect that it is this as well since I was guilty of downloading AviSynth 2.08 also and was fustrated as hell trying to figure out what the problem was. So I'd recommend giving that a try and it should work nicely.

Still experiencing this problem. Made sure that I had AviSynth 2.54 and all of that. Here is what the AviSynth script file said after it prepared the video in the first step.
#------------------
# AVS File Created by DVD Rebuilder
# VOBID:01, CELLID:01
#------------------
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth2\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll")
mpeg2source("I:\BITTORRENT\BOOKS AND MAGAZINES\D2VAVS\V01.D2V")
trim(0,16639)
ConvertToYUY2(interlaced=true)
AudioDub(BlankClip())
I let CCE do its thing, but was unable to glean any information whatsoever from the .M2V files. Opening them in media player only showed the same red/orange lines that I had before, and I saw no way of retrieving any information that would show me what kind of error was produced. If anyone can help me further, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Try uninstalling your AviSynth and reinstalling AviSynth 2.54 to make sure you have the right one installed... you may or may not have 2.54 install but unless you changed the default dir. in the install "LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth2\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll")" you are showing you have avisynth 2.0# installed and also reinstalling Avisynth 2.54 somethings fixes some problems
P.S. you may have both Aisynth 2.0# and 2.54 install but in DVD-RB you are pointing at the wrong one (2.0#), try going in to setup and repoint DVD-RB to the avisynth 2.54 dir. but try the above first.
Hope this helps

That still didn't work. Uninstalled the previous avisynth and made sure to install 2.54. Here's what the script now says
#------------------
# AVS File Created by DVD Rebuilder
# VOBID:01, CELLID:01
#------------------
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll")
mpeg2source("I:\BITTORRENT\BOOKS AND MAGAZINES\D2VAVS\V01.D2V")
trim(0,16639)
ConvertToYUY2(interlaced=true)
AudioDub(BlankClip())
Anyone else have any suggestions?

don't open the .m2v files, open the .avs file itself in a media player or VirtualDub.

If you are running a cracked version of CCEsp it could be the encoder itself. Try using the trial version and see if it fixes your problem.

If he is using a cracked version (and I'm not saying you are UltimintWorrior):
1. It wouldn't matter. The red line problem is because the files being feed to the encoder of messed up, it has nothing to do with the encoder it self.
2. He would be wise not to admit it because that kinda stuff doesn't fly here. 6) No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained copyrighted content! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking for, offering, or asking for help/helping to process such content in any way or form is not tolerated.
Although it may not be clear, asking for help using cracked software is also not tolerated.

Ok, the error came up as this:
MPEG2Source: couldn't open file
i:\bittorrent\Books and Magazines\D2VAVS\V01000000001001, line 6
Could this maybe have something to do with the spaces present in the filepath?

Spaces shouldn't be a problem (but I can't test it out now to verify). You can get that error if you move your source files after running the prepare step.

I was able to verify that the spaces have no bearing whatsoever on the error. I am still getting the error, and I mean...I'm really just at a loss. I'm usually pretty good at figuring these types of things out on my own, but this time I had to join this forum just to ask. So unless I'm forgetting a really stupid step, which I don't think so, as far as my first post, it seems like everything coincides with the FAQ. So, if anyone can offer anymore suggestions I'd appreciate it.
