Hello everyone! I'm new to the DVD scene. I've tried looking over many guides and help files finally gave up and hoping someone knows this.

I recorded all of the Enterprise series 3 off TV as VCD format for use before I bought my new NEC drive. Now that I have it I've been trying to find a way to force the DVD to be used as a 4.7 gig VCD. If I recode all of the videos there isn't really any disc savings.

Is there a way to make a DVD just an extented VCD. This way I get over 6-7 eps on one discs? If I'm missing a guide somewhere please just point me to that :)

In reality would someone need to find a way to change the bitset on the disc to read as an overly large CD?

Vcd resolution 352x240 or for pal 352x288 is dvd compatible. The audio must be re-encoded from 44.1 hz to 48. The easiest way to get these files onto dvd is by using Tmpg DvdAuthor by Pegasys. Just drop the vcd in author your dvd with menus and then burn it. Audio will be re-encoded for you. Comes with a 30 day trial.

Yep. Audio transcoding won't be any trouble. But since I dag deep into this exactly because I wanted to do what you have in mind (burn VCDs in DVD) there is a way to maintain the original audio.

It's a bit time consuming I know...
