View Full Version : IVTC in TMPGEnc creates a LARGE file?

Hi!

I tried to make IVTC on source that was 30fps NTSC. The file was 3.9Gb, but TMPGEnc creates a file that is 40Gb for the first 10 minutes of the movie? The source is anamorphic 1.66:1.

I first tested with one 5 minute chapter that was 219Mb, to decrease it to 39Mb. The resoult was 7.9Gb. I couldn't believe my eyes! ;(

I used the Video only (ES) option for processing.

Deinterlacing filter was Odd.

Could someone tell me why does it make such a large file?

This can't be. TMPGEnc does not allow such high bitrates to get files that large.
What did you exactly do?

The problem is that the resulting file is in MPEG-1 format? If I'm going to encode the file using XviD after IVTC, should I choose VCD, SVCD or DVD from the beginning setup?

If you are going to encode your clip using Xvid, why would you use TMPGEnc to encode an MPEG first?

If you want to encode an Xvid file, use TMPGEnc to output an avi with the Xvid compression. You can still use the TMPGEnc IVTC. TMPGEnc 2.5 allowed you to save avi from the File menu, I am not sure about 3.0.

It would be silly to take your source and then compress it to mpeg and then to Xvid. You would be using double compression making it look bad. Go straight from your source to Xvid.

Load your source into TMPGEnc 2.5. Go into the settings and select IVTC since you mention that. Also set your output resolution. Then go to the menu and select "save as avi". Then select Xvid from the list of codecs.

Ok. Thanks VideoDude!

I'll try that and we'll see what happens. I didn't know that the xvid compression is possible with TMPGEnc.

Hi!

I tried to save the file as avi, but it's still making too large file. ;(

The ONLY thing why I use TMPGEnc is that I don't know a better way to do IVTC (althougth I've never got it working, but the preview seems nice).

I know that VirtualDub has interlace filters, but they haven't given me the results I need.

I just want to have a frameserver that I can use in GKnot that I know how to use.

Hope there's someone who can help me.

Thanks in advance!

theres an Avisynth filter called TPRIVTC that can load a tmpgenc project file into the script and apply tyhe ivtc made in it onto teh loaded file in avs. I do it all teh time and it works liek a charm.
U can open that avs file in vdubmod and encode there to xvid. No need for intermediate files
