Black 'shadow' - ideas

Hi. Trying to clean up an old concert video a bit. Searched around for answers but couldnt find anything. Probably chose the wrong search phrasing lol

Anyways. Any ideas for reducing this black shadowing effect? Either in Virtualdub or avisynth.

The effect is caused by reduced DC componate and or little low frequency responce. Using a 3x3 matrix filter as a low freq. bandpass filter will help, and you might try one of the ghost VD filters too for phase correction. Also try "autolevels" by EOD
